Profile

Matt Lawler, AIBD, NCBDC

After graduating from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1996, Matt launched his career in architecture and interior design in the Nashville area. He gained early experience across a broad spectrum of projects, primarily in commercial architecture, with a few residential commissions on the side. Through this work, he discovered that custom residential design offered a more rewarding outlet for his creativity and passion for architecture. This niche allowed him to form deeper client relationships and bring unique personal visions to life.

This passion led Matt to specialize exclusively in residential architecture. To strengthen his understanding of the building process, he joined a residential construction firm, where he spent a decade designing luxury homes, managing project estimates, and overseeing construction. This experience provided him with invaluable hands-on knowledge of construction practices and the trades that bring a home to life.

Armed with both design expertise and technical insight, Matt went on to establish his own architectural practice—dedicated to crafting distinctive, thoughtfully designed homes tailored to the unique needs and lifestyles of his clients.

With over 25 years of professional experience, Matt has developed a diverse and accomplished portfolio that includes luxury homes, thoughtful and bespoke renovations, home additions, and select commercial buildings throughout Middle Tennessee. He has been involved in every phase of the architectural process—from initial schematic design and design development to project management, construction documentation, and administration.

Matt approaches every project with a deep respect for architectural history, a dedication to unique and thoughtful design, a sensitivity to budget, and a steadfast focus on constructability.
